  5. Types of Headaches

Headaches come in many different forms, some of the most common include:

  • Tension
  • Cluster
  • Migraine

With so many different types of headaches it can be difficult to know which one you are suffering from.

Tension headaches generally have a dull and persistent pain that wraps around the forehead, back of the head, and neck. These can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a week.

Migraines are severe headaches that typically last between 4 hours to 3 days, and are felt on one side of the head with a throbbing pain which may worsen with activity. Sensitivity to light and sound are also common symptoms of a migraine.

Cluster headaches are severe and pain is often felt on one side of the face behind the eye, and can last from between 15 minutes to 3 hours and can happen multiple times per day over the course of a few months or a year.
