Feel Better - Move More Freely

As Remedial Massage Therapists we are trained to perform tests on your body to help us determine what might be the underlying cause of your complaint. This leads us to see common conditions and know exactly how to help our clients overcome these conditions with a combination of soft tissue work (massage, stretching & joint mobilisation) along with stretches and exercises for our clients to do at home.

It is this combination of soft tissue work by our therapists as well as some basic movements to do at home that brings balance back to the joint or condition to overcome the complaint.

What to Expect in a treatment

Treatments can be booked for 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes. The first 10 minutes or so of the treatment will include the therapist discussing with you your history and presenting condition. The therapist will perform assessments of the area including range or motion and special tests to give the therapist a good idea of the cause of the concern and help them create a suitable treatment to get you the best outcome.

Your therapist will then explain to you what their intended treatment plan is and ensure you understand and are comfortable with the proposed treatment. They will then leave you to get onto the treatment table before beginning the treatment.

The treatment may include techniques that the therapist is trained in such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, P&F stretching, Myofascial Release, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, or heat and cold therapies to obtain the best result for your concern.

Nearing the end of the treatment the therapist will once again perform the assessments and tests performed at the beginning of the session to observe any improvements and provide you with exercise and or stretches that you can do at home to further enhance your treatment and recovery.

Massage For Children

Remedial Massage for children It is proven to increase dopamine (the feel-good hormone) and decrease cortisol (the stress hormone). This helps regulate anxiety and stress levels that can become imbalanced and can help a child increase their self-confidence. Your young ones are more active than ever, in mind and in the body. Teaching them to manage stress and body awareness while they are young can help prevent a lifetime of chronic pain and poor habits.

Massage may help with –

  • Improved sleeping pattern;
  • more balanced energy level;
  • better concentration and application;
  • enhanced motor control and behaviour
  • generally happier, quieter children.

An adult must always be present during treatment and will often support the therapist in making the whole procedure pleasurable by interacting with the child. Children’s appointments are 30 minutes long to ensure sufficient time for treatment without restlessness.
